Scott Middleton

Scott Middleton graduated as a chiropractor in 1977 after initially studying for a BSc Hons in Biology and Physics. After three years post-graduate work specialising in orthopaedics, neurology, rheumatology, sports injuries and paediatrics he started the Wilmslow Chiropractic Clinic. Just two years later in 1982, the new style practice of accurate diagnosis and fast effective treatment had proved so popular that Dr Gowan Robinson, the first of twenty three associate colleagues, was asked to join the busy clinic. (Gowan is still there, decades later…!)

In 1984 Scott and local GP Dr Adrian Hart started the Langworthy Medical Centre – the first joint medical and chiropractic clinic in Britain. In the early 1990’s, after working closely with many GP fund-holding practices across the North West, Scott became the first NHS chiropractor – with both PCT and PCG contracts.

For fifteen years Scott was the only NHS chiropractor in Britain. During that time he has been a member of NHS committees helping to design new initiatives and protocols and expanded the NHS work with further PCT contracts.

Scott has been a member of the panel of experts at conferences and has lectured extensively to medical consultants, GP’s and chiropractic audiences at Universities, conferences, seminars and post-graduate medical centres as well as to physiotherapists and lay audiences. The subjects have included: The Science behind the Chiropractic MSc; Advanced musculoskeletal diagnosis; Pain syndromes; Chiropractic – it’s the results that count!; Rheumatology seen in general practice; Whiplash injuries; Specialist diagnosis of spinal pain; Chiropractors in the pain management team; NHS Consultant chiropractor; Common referred pain syndromes; and The future of Chiropractic.

Since the 1980′s Scott has been writing medico-legal reports for the Court and has also been a Medical Expert for the Court. He has appeared many times on Television in programs such as This Morning and Granada reports and of course on Sky. For over ten years he was a “medical expert” on GMR and BBC North West and has been a guest on Radio 4 and other radio stations.

In addition to practising at his Wilmslow and Salford clinics, since the mid-1980′s Scott has travelled many times to countries in Europe, the Middle East and to America to either run clinics or advise individual patients.

He has an international reputation for accurate diagnosis; straight talking; and fast effective treatment. In recognition of his exemplary clinical work he has been awarded two British Fellowships.

Scott’s standard protocol is not to treat a patient more than four times unless they show good evidence of improvement. This protocol is based on the results of independent private and NHS audits of over 69,000 patients who have been seen in his practices during the past thirty-eight years.

Scott’s advice to any patient who has had four or more treatments at any other clinic without getting good improvement is simple… Stop the treatment and get a second opinion!

This website is designed to give some information on the common conditions seen regularly at orthopaedic, chiropractic, neurolgy or rheumatology clinics.

Scott is both a Fellow of the General Chiropractic council and a Fellow of the British Chiropractic Association.  Treatment is covered by most health insurance companies.

For further information please write or email Dr Scott Middleton with details of your individual problem – please note that you must include your email* and telephone number(s)*.    Please note that appointments cannot be made by email.

Gowan Robinson

Gowan Robinson graduated from AECC in 1980 as a Doctor of Chiropractic and after two years postgraduate work in a long-established clinic in Leeds joined Scott Middleton at the Wilmslow practice in 1982. Gowan has been a mainstay of the practice ever since… and his unique style of practice and obvious sense of humour makes him very popular with young and old alike.
Gowan primarily uses the standard chiropractic techniques and rather than specialising in specific medical conditions, is very happy being a “general physician” – one who likes treating a great variety of problems.

Gowan is registered with the General Chiropractic council and is a member of the British Chiropractic Association. Gowan’s teatment is covered by most health insurance companies.

Lindsay Beardsworth

Lindsay Beardsworth moved to the North West in 2004, following graduating as a Doctor of Chiropractic from the University of Glamorgan with a first class honours degree. Her academic and clinical achievements were recognised by the Welsh Institute of Chiropractic (WIOC) who presented her with the annual Academic and Clinical Excellence awards, in addition to the award for Graduate of the Year. Dr Lindsay Beardsworth was the only graduate to ever receive three awards from the WIOC.

Lindsay completed her post registration training years between the Wilmslow and Salford Chiropractic Clinics. In 2007 she was asked to be a full member of the clinical team at both clinics and was delighted to accept. She has also enjoyed furthering her professional qualifications by training in both Myofascial Dry Needling and in Pregnancy and Foetal Development. She enjoys treating a range of patients… from week old babies to patients in their 90′s… as well as professional and semi-professional sportsmen and women.

She has attended multiple seminars at various hospitals and institutions and has established great communication networks with local orthopedic consultants, neurosurgeons and GPs.

Lindsay is registered with the General Chiropractic council and is a member of the British Chiropractic Association. Lindsay’s treatment is covered by most health insurance companies.
